New Delhi: Senior BJP leader K. Annamalai has urged students and protestors participating in demonstrations over the NEET controversy not to allow their movement to be “hijacked” by political interests, while simultaneously questioning the Central government over the alleged examination paper leak.
Addressing the ongoing debate, Annamalai acknowledged the concerns of students and their families, stating that any lapse in the examination process must be investigated thoroughly. He stressed that deserving candidates should not suffer due to irregularities and called for a transparent and time-bound inquiry into the alleged leak.
At the same time, the BJP leader appealed to protesters to ensure that their demonstrations remain peaceful and focused on the genuine issues affecting students.
“Don’t let your protests be hijacked. The movement should remain about the interests of students and not become a platform for political agendas,” Annamalai said.
The remarks come amid growing nationwide protests demanding accountability, greater transparency, and reforms in the conduct of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). Students have raised concerns over alleged paper leaks, examination integrity, and the impact of such incidents on lakhs of medical aspirants.
Opposition parties have intensified their criticism of the Centre, accusing it of failing to prevent examination irregularities and demanding stronger safeguards to protect the credibility of competitive exams. Meanwhile, government officials have reiterated their commitment to investigating all allegations and taking appropriate action against those responsible.
The NEET controversy has reignited discussions on examination security, the need for stricter anti-malpractice measures, and ensuring a fair and transparent admission process for medical students across the country.
