Thiruvananthapuram: Heavy monsoon showers continue to batter Kerala, prompting authorities to close educational institutions in Kozhikode and Wayanad as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a Yellow Alert for 11 districts. The precautionary closures come amid forecasts of persistent rainfall, strong winds, and the possibility of localized flooding and landslides in vulnerable areas.
Schools Closed as Safety Measure
District administrations in Kozhikode and Wayanad announced the closure of schools and other educational institutions to ensure the safety of students and staff. Authorities have urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel, particularly in hilly regions that are prone to landslides during periods of intense rainfall.

Heavy Rain Expected Across Northern Kerala
Northern districts, particularly Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod, are expected to receive the heaviest rainfall as the southwest monsoon remains active.
