Chennai: A shocking murder investigation has unfolded across Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh after the dismembered body of an Odisha woman was discovered inside a suitcase on the Tamil Nadu Express. Police are searching for a young couple from Odisha who are suspected of being involved in the alleged murder.
The victim has been identified as Hayath Nisha. According to the investigation reported so far, her body parts were discovered inside a red suitcase after the train reached Agra on August 5. The suitcase had originated from Chennai Central, prompting investigators to retrace its journey and identify the people who had carried it onto the train.
Dismembered Body Found in Suitcase
The case came to light when police in Agra examined a suspicious red suitcase on the Tamil Nadu Express. Inside, they reportedly found the dismembered remains of a woman.
Investigators subsequently identified the victim as Hayath Nisha, an Odisha native. Police began examining CCTV footage and other evidence to establish where the suitcase came from and who had transported it to Chennai Central.
CCTV Trail Leads Investigators to Guduvanchery
CCTV footage from Chennai Central reportedly showed a young man and woman carrying the suitcase and placing it aboard the Tamil Nadu Express.
After leaving the railway station, the couple allegedly travelled towards Park railway station and subsequently took a suburban train towards Guduvanchery.
Investigators reportedly showed photographs and CCTV images of the suspects to local residents, which helped police trace them to a house on Masjid Street in Guduvanchery.
Victim Was Reportedly Living With Couple
According to information gathered during the investigation, Nisha had separated from her husband and was staying with the young couple.
Her 19-year-old son is reportedly employed as an air-conditioner mechanic in Tambaram.
Police are now investigating the relationship between Nisha and the couple and are attempting to establish what happened before the alleged killing.
The couple reportedly fled after the incident and remain the focus of the police search.
More Remains Reportedly Found at Guduvanchery House
The investigation took another disturbing turn when police reportedly searched the house where the couple had been staying.
According to the reported findings, additional portions of Nisha’s remains were discovered inside a large vessel commonly used for preparing biryani. Investigators also reportedly found bloodstains at the premises and other material evidence that is now being examined as part of the probe.
The findings have strengthened investigators’ suspicion that the house may have been connected to the alleged murder and subsequent disposal of the body.

CCTV footage, forensic evidence, witness statements and the movements of the victim and suspects are expected to play an important role in the investigation.
At this stage, the allegations against the suspects remain subject to police investigation and due legal process.
A Case Spanning Multiple Locations
The unusual discovery on the Tamil Nadu Express has turned the case into a multi-location investigation, with investigators tracing the suitcase from Chennai to Agra while simultaneously examining evidence at the suspected crime scene in Guduvanchery.
The case has also drawn attention because of the alleged attempt to transport the victim’s remains over a long distance by train.
