Greater Noida, October 21, 2026: A spectacular Ravan Dahan celebration brought large crowds to the Ramlila Ground in Ecotech 12, Greater Noida West, on Tuesday, October 20, as residents gathered to celebrate Dussehra and witness the symbolic victory of good over evil.
The event’s main attraction was an 85-foot-tall effigy of Ravan, which was set ablaze amid cheers from spectators. A special drone show, fireworks and a grand festive setup added to the celebrations, making the event a major attraction for residents of Greater Noida West and neighbouring areas.
According to organisers’ estimates reported by the media, around five lakh people attended the celebrations. The figure has not been independently verified.
85-Foot Ravan Effigy Becomes the Centre of Attraction
The towering Ravan effigy was the highlight of the Dussehra programme at Ecotech 12. The traditional ritual marked the conclusion of the Ramlila festivities, which recount episodes from the Ramayana and the battle between Lord Ram and Ravan.
Effigies of Kumbhakarna and Meghnad, measuring approximately 70 feet each, were also burned during the celebrations.
The sight of the giant effigies going up in flames drew loud cheers from the crowd, while fireworks added to the festive atmosphere.
Ravan Dahan is traditionally associated with the victory of righteousness over arrogance and wrongdoing. Across India, the ritual is one of the central attractions of Dussehra celebrations.
Drone Show Adds a Modern Touch to Dussehra
Alongside the traditional effigy burning, the organisers arranged a special drone show that added a contemporary visual spectacle to the event.
The combination of cultural traditions, modern technology and festive entertainment helped draw families and visitors to the venue.
The celebrations also featured a grand structure inspired by the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, where visitors could view an idol of Ram Lalla. The temple-inspired installation became another major attraction during the festivities.
More Than 250 Stalls Offer Food and Shopping
The event offered visitors more than the Ravan Dahan ceremony. More than 250 food stalls, according to published reports, served a variety of dishes, while handicraft stalls and festive markets offered shopping opportunities.
The large venue featured entertainment and other attractions for families attending the celebrations. General entry was reported to be free.
The scale of the arrangements reflected the growing popularity of community-organised Ramlila events in residential areas around Greater Noida West.
Large Crowds Gather for Dussehra Celebrations
The Ramlila Ground in Ecotech 12 emerged as one of the major destinations for Dussehra festivities in the region.
Organisers reportedly estimated that around five lakh people attended the event. The turnout highlighted the importance of Ramlila and Dussehra as community celebrations that bring together residents of different age groups.
Crowd management and security were important considerations given the scale of the gathering. Published reports described the event arrangements positively, although a comprehensive independent assessment of crowd management was not available.
Ravan Dahan Celebrations Across Noida and Greater Noida
The Ecotech 12 event was among several Dussehra celebrations held across Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad on October 20.
At other venues, organisers also burned effigies of Ravan, Kumbhakarna and Meghnad, accompanied by fireworks and cultural programmes.
At Noida Stadium in Sector 21A, the concluding Ramlila performances were followed by the traditional effigy burning. In Greater Noida’s Sector Pi and Site 4, similar programmes attracted residents and families.
However, the celebrations differ from place to place. In Bisrakh village, which local tradition identifies with Ravan’s birthplace, devotees offered prayers and performed rituals rather than burning his effigy.
