Legislative Council Elections: Ravindra Chavan Leads BJP-Mahayuti Campaign In Solapur

Solapur, October 21, 2026: Maharashtra BJP president Ravindra Chavan has stepped up the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Mahayuti alliance’s campaign in Solapur ahead of the upcoming Maharashtra Legislative Council elections for the Pune Graduates’ and Teachers’ constituencies.

During his one-day visit to Solapur district, Chavan held organisational meetings, interacted with representatives of teachers’ associations and participated in party programmes to strengthen election preparations. He urged party workers to coordinate their efforts, communicate the government’s initiatives to voters and work collectively to secure victory for the alliance’s candidates.

The visit comes as political parties intensify their campaigns ahead of polling scheduled for October 23.

Chavan Reviews Election Preparedness

Chavan reviewed the campaign strategy with local BJP leaders and party workers, focusing on organisational coordination, voter outreach and election planning.

The BJP-Mahayuti alliance has fielded Dr Smita Yogesh Jadhav from the Pune Graduates’ Constituency and Kaustubh Gawade from the Pune Teachers’ Constituency. Chavan guided party workers on strengthening the campaign and ensuring that the candidates’ outreach efforts reach eligible voters.

He emphasised the importance of effective coordination between local party units and urged workers to highlight the government’s welfare initiatives and its work in education, employment and other public-interest areas.

The meetings were intended to reinforce the party organisation’s preparedness during the final phase of campaigning.

Teachers’ Association Announces Support

An important development during Chavan’s visit was his meeting with representatives of the Maharashtra State Backward Class Teachers’ Organisation from the Solapur Municipal Corporation area.

The discussions focused on demands and concerns related to the education sector. Chavan listened to the representatives’ issues and stated that the BJP-Mahayuti government was committed to addressing them.

Following the meeting, the organisation announced its support for the alliance’s candidates through a formal letter.

The development provided an additional boost to the campaign as the alliance seeks to consolidate support among teachers and graduates ahead of polling.

Leaders and Local Representatives Participate

Several political leaders, elected representatives and party office-bearers participated in programmes held during Chavan’s visit, including an event in Mangalwedha.

Those present included Maharashtra minister Jaykumar Gore, BJP state general secretaries and legislators Niranjan Davkhare and Rajesh Pandey, and MLAs Vijay Deshmukh, Devendra Kothe, Subhash Deshmukh and Sachin Kalyanshetti.

Former MLA and BJP state secretary Ram Satpute, Solapur city BJP president Rohini Tadvalkar, Solapur rural party leaders and Pune Teachers’ Constituency candidate Kaustubh Gawade also attended the programmes.

Local municipal representatives, cooperative-sector office-bearers and party workers participated in the gathering, reflecting the campaign’s emphasis on strengthening grassroots coordination.

BJP-Mahayuti Focuses on Graduates and Teachers

The Pune Graduates’ and Teachers’ constituencies are among the five constituencies involved in the 2026 Maharashtra Legislative Council elections. The elections are significant for political parties seeking support among registered graduates and eligible teacher voters.

The Mahayuti alliance has focused on organisational mobilisation, direct engagement with voters and support from professional and teachers’ associations.

Chavan’s Solapur visit forms part of the alliance’s wider efforts to coordinate campaign activities across the Pune division, which includes Pune, Solapur, Satara, Sangli and Kolhapur districts.

However, the electoral outcome will depend on voter participation, candidate outreach and support among eligible voters.

Polling Scheduled for October 23

Voting for the Maharashtra Legislative Council elections covering three graduates’ and two teachers’ constituencies is scheduled for October 23, 2026, with counting scheduled for October 27.

As the polling date approaches, political parties are working to strengthen their campaign networks and mobilise eligible voters.

Chavan’s visit has given fresh momentum to BJP-Mahayuti campaign preparations in Solapur, with the party seeking to translate organisational coordination and support from local groups into electoral gains.

The final result will determine whether the alliance’s campaign efforts translate into victories in the constituencies it is contesting.
