Telangana Accident: 5 Women Among 6 Killed, 20 Injured After Private Bus Rams Truck in Suryapet

Suryapet, Telangana: Six people, including five women, were killed and around 20 others injured after a private travel bus rammed into a container truck in Telangana’s Suryapet district in the early hours of Wednesday, August 26.

The accident occurred on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada National Highway near Dwarakunta in Kodad mandal. The private bus was reportedly travelling from Hyderabad to Eluru via Vijayawada when the crash took place at around 4.30 am.

Bus Carrying Around 42 Passengers

According to preliminary information from the police, around 42 passengers were travelling on the bus when it collided with the truck from behind. The impact was severe, causing extensive damage to the front portion of the bus.

Six passengers reportedly died at the scene, while approximately 20 others sustained injuries. Some of the injured were stated to be in critical condition and were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Truck Had Reportedly Stopped After Hitting Divider

Initial police information suggests that the container truck may have come to a halt after hitting a road divider before the private bus crashed into it. Another preliminary line of investigation is examining whether overspeeding contributed to the accident.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to establish the exact sequence of events and determine the precise cause of the collision.

Rescue Teams Rush to the Spot

Police, highway patrol personnel and rescue teams rushed to the accident site after receiving information about the crash. Local residents also reportedly alerted authorities and assisted during the initial rescue operation.

The injured passengers were shifted to hospitals, while the bodies of those who died were moved for post-mortem procedures. Senior police officials also visited the scene and supervised the rescue and relief efforts.

CM Revanth Reddy Expresses Grief

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed condolences over the loss of lives and directed officials to ensure appropriate and advanced medical treatment for those injured in the accident.

The tragic crash has once again highlighted concerns about road safety and high-speed travel on busy national highways.

The incident remains under investigation, and the number of injured or their medical condition may be updated as authorities release further information.
