Defamation Suit: Delhi Court grants interim injunction to entrepreneur Ankiti Bose, directs article removal

New Delhi: A Delhi court has granted an interim injunction in a defamation suit filed by entrepreneur Ankiti Bose, directing the removal of an article that she alleged contained defamatory and misleading claims about her.

The court’s interim order came in proceedings concerning online material published about Bose, who is known for co-founding fashion technology company Zilingo.

Court Orders Removal of Article

The court, while considering Bose’s plea, directed the concerned defendants to remove or take down the disputed article from the relevant online platform.

Bose had approached the court alleging that the publication contained statements that were defamatory and had the potential to cause serious damage to her reputation and professional standing.

The interim injunction means that the disputed content cannot remain available in the manner covered by the court’s order while the case proceeds.

The entrepreneur argued that the publication contained statements that were false, defamatory and presented in a manner that could lead readers to form an adverse impression about her.

The defendants are expected to contest the allegations as the proceedings continue. The court’s interim order does not constitute a final determination on whether the statements in question are defamatory.

Ankiti Bose and Zilingo

Ankiti Bose co-founded Zilingo, a Southeast Asian fashion-commerce platform, and became one of the prominent Indian entrepreneurs in the startup ecosystem.

Her professional career later attracted significant media attention following controversies surrounding Zilingo and her departure from the company.

The latest court proceedings represent a separate legal dispute concerning the publication of material about Bose and her reputation.

Interim Relief, Not Final Verdict

An interim injunction is a temporary measure intended to protect the interests of a party while a case is pending. The Delhi court will consider the parties’ arguments and evidence before reaching any final conclusion in the defamation proceedings.

The defendants will have an opportunity to respond to Bose’s allegations, and the final outcome of the case will depend on the court’s assessment of the evidence and applicable law.
