The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has declined the Centre’s invitation for talks, stating that any meeting would be meaningless unless the government first accepts the resignation of the Union Education Minister.
Addressing the media, CJP leaders said the ongoing student movement is focused on accountability following the alleged examination paper leak controversy. According to the party, merely holding discussions without taking responsibility at the highest level of the Education Ministry would not resolve students’ concerns.
“If the government cannot seek the Education Minister’s resignation, then there is no point in holding a meeting,” a CJP spokesperson said.
The Centre had reportedly invited representatives of the student-led movement for discussions aimed at finding a resolution. However, CJP maintained that talks can only proceed after the government demonstrates its commitment through concrete action rather than assurances.
The protest has drawn attention from student groups and political leaders across the country, with demands including:
- Resignation of the Union Education Minister.
- A transparent investigation into the alleged paper leak.
- Stronger safeguards to prevent future examination irregularities.
- Accountability for officials found responsible.
The government has so far defended its handling of the issue and indicated its willingness to engage with protesting students and organizations. However, there has been no official indication that the Education Minister will resign.
As the standoff continues, it remains uncertain whether both sides will return to the negotiating table or if the protests will intensify in the coming days.
