New Delhi: Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi has sharply criticized the Union government’s handling of the education sector, alleging that India’s education system is “rigged” and calling for the removal of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Speaking on issues surrounding the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and other examination-related controversies, Rahul Gandhi claimed that repeated irregularities have eroded students’ confidence in the country’s competitive examination system. He argued that aspiring students deserve a transparent, fair, and accountable process that rewards merit.
“Dharmendra Pradhan should be shown the door,” Rahul Gandhi said, accusing the government of failing to protect the integrity of the education system.
The Congress leader alleged that recurring concerns over examination management have placed unnecessary stress on millions of students and their families. He urged the Centre to take responsibility for addressing alleged lapses and to implement comprehensive reforms to restore public trust.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rejected the criticism, defending the government’s actions and stating that agencies are investigating all reported irregularities. BJP leaders maintained that strict action would be taken against anyone found responsible for examination malpractice and emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring fair recruitment and admission processes.
The debate over NEET and other competitive examinations has intensified in recent months, with opposition parties demanding greater transparency and accountability, while the government has assured students that necessary corrective measures are being implemented.
The controversy has sparked a broader national discussion on examination security, institutional accountability, and reforms aimed at safeguarding the interests of millions of students preparing for competitive exams.
