The family of Meghalaya honeymoon murder victim Raja Raghuvanshi has once again come into the spotlight, this time after his two elder brothers were arrested in Indore over allegations of serving liquor without a valid licence at their family eatery.
According to police, Sachin Raghuvanshi and Vipin Raghuvanshi, along with three employees of the establishment, were taken into preventive custody after authorities allegedly found liquor being served to customers without the required permission.
What Led to the Arrests?
The action was reportedly taken by police from the Rau area of Indore after information was received that liquor was being served at the eatery despite the establishment not having a licence to do so.
The establishment, identified in reports as Raja Bhoj Dhaba, is located on CAT Road and is owned by Raja Raghuvanshi’s elder brothers. Police allegedly found liquor being served to customers during a check.
Authorities also reportedly found that the establishment had not submitted certain required details relating to tenants and employees.
Five People Taken Into Custody
Police placed five people under preventive arrest — Sachin and Vipin Raghuvanshi and three employees of the eatery.
Officials said the action was taken under Section 170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) as a preventive measure. Reports said all five were subsequently sent to jail.
The case relates to the alleged violation of liquor-serving regulations and is separate from the criminal case surrounding Raja Raghuvanshi’s death.
Separate From Raja Raghuvanshi Murder Case
Raja Raghuvanshi was an Indore-based businessman who was murdered in Meghalaya in 2025 during his honeymoon. His death and the subsequent investigation involving his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, attracted widespread national attention.
The latest police action against his brothers does not relate to Raja’s murder case. It concerns alleged violations at their eatery in Indore.
The connection to the earlier case has nevertheless brought renewed media attention to the Raghuvanshi family.
Police Investigation Underway
The authorities are expected to investigate how liquor was allegedly being served at the establishment without a valid licence and whether other regulatory requirements were also violated.
The reported discovery of liquor being served without authorisation could lead to further proceedings under applicable excise laws, depending on the findings of the investigation.
At this stage, the allegations remain allegations, and the brothers’ arrest does not by itself establish guilt.
Family Back in the Spotlight
The development comes months after the Raghuvanshi family was at the centre of one of the country’s most widely followed murder investigations.
While Raja’s death had brought the family into the national spotlight for tragic reasons, the latest incident is an unrelated legal matter involving his brothers and their business.
