Kulgam, Jammu & Kashmir, August 1, 2026: In a tragic terrorist attack, two migrant workers were killed after unidentified terrorists opened fire at a brick kiln in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Friday night. The victims, both non-local labourers, were working at the kiln when the attackers targeted them before fleeing the scene.

According to police officials, the terrorists arrived at the brick kiln under the cover of darkness and fired multiple rounds at the workers. The injured labourers were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared them dead. Security forces quickly cordoned off the area and launched a massive search operation to track down the perpetrators.

The attack has once again highlighted the security challenges in the Kashmir Valley, where migrant workers have increasingly become targets of terrorist groups attempting to spread fear and disrupt normalcy. Authorities suspect that the attackers intended to intimidate non-local workers employed across various sectors in the region.

Senior officials from the Jammu and Kashmir Police visited the site soon after the incident and assured that those responsible would be brought to justice. Additional security personnel have been deployed in and around Kulgam, while checkpoints have been strengthened to prevent the escape of the attackers.

Political leaders across the country strongly condemned the attack, describing it as a cowardly act against innocent civilians. They extended their condolences to the families of the victims and reiterated the government’s commitment to eliminating terrorism from the Union Territory.

Over the past few years, security agencies have intensified anti-terror operations across Jammu and Kashmir, leading to the neutralization of several militants. However, sporadic attacks targeting civilians, migrant workers, and minority communities continue to pose challenges to peace efforts in the region.

Officials have urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by reporting any suspicious activities. The investigation is underway, and authorities are examining CCTV footage and gathering forensic evidence to identify the terrorists involved in the attack.

Investigation Underway

Security forces, including the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Indian Army, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), are jointly conducting search operations in the surrounding areas. Officials believe the attackers may have received local support, and intelligence agencies are working to determine the group’s identity and motive.

The incident serves as a grim reminder of the continuing threat posed by terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, despite ongoing efforts to restore peace and stability in the region.
