Residents across several parts of Chennai and its surrounding areas should expect a scheduled power shutdown on Friday, September 25, 2026, as the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO/TNPDCL) carries out maintenance work.
According to reports, electricity supply will generally be suspended between 9 am and 2 pm in the affected areas. Supply is expected to be restored before 2 pm if the scheduled maintenance is completed earlier.

Affected locations include Vanagaram Chettiyar Agaram Main Road, Fish Market Road, Rajiv Nagar, Sivaboothamedu, Noombal Main Road, Lakshmi Nagar, Indira Nagar, PH Road, Balaji Nagar, Porur Garden Phases I–III, Metro Nagar, Samayapuram, Kamadenu Nagar, Krishna Industrial Estate, Anna Industrial Estate, Gandhi Nagar, Dharmaraja Nagar and Karambakkam.
Tambaram and surrounding areas
The affected list includes Otteri, Orapakam, Vandalur, Venkatesapuram, Lakshmipuram, RMK Nagar Gundumedu, Vivek Nagar, Karthikeyan Nagar, Bharathi Nagar, Ganesh Nagar, MKB Nagar, Mepedu, Puthur, Perumal Puram, Vengambakkam, Vishnu Nagar, Kurinji Nagar and RSR Nagar, among numerous streets and residential areas.
Kodambakkam, Guindy and Velachery
Parts of Trust Puram, Arcot Road, Rangarajapuram, Kamarajar Colony, Choolaimedu High Road and 100 Feet Road are included in the Kodambakkam shutdown.
In Guindy, affected locations include parts of Nanganallur, Ullagaram, Nanganallur 14th–33rd Streets, TNGO Colony, Lakshmi Nagar, Alwar Nagar and Perumal Nagar.
In Velachery, the listed areas include Dhandeeswaram, Seethapathy Street, Maruti Doss Road, Ravi Street, Selvi Street, Rajambal Street, Elango Street, Bharathi Street and Ayodhya Colony.
What residents should know
The scheduled outage is for maintenance work, rather than an unscheduled breakdown. Residents and businesses in the affected areas should plan for the possibility of up to five hours without electricity, particularly between 9 am and 2 pm.
