Actor Nana Patekar’s Last Video Shot Days Before His Death Goes Viral

Mumbai: A video of veteran actor Nana Patekar, recorded just days before his death, has gone viral on social media, leaving fans emotional as tributes continue to pour in for the celebrated actor.

Patekar died at the age of 75 on October 8, 2026, after suffering a cardiac arrest at his residence in Goa. His son, Malhar Patekar, confirmed his death.

Nana Patekar’s Last Public Video

The video currently circulating online was reportedly recorded at an event in Goa around four days before his death.

In the clip, Patekar can be seen speaking about his journey into theatre and acting. Rather than discussing his film career alone, the actor reflected on the early stage of his life when he decided to pursue acting professionally.

The video has attracted considerable attention because it captures Patekar speaking candidly and appearing active only days before his sudden death.

Nana Patekar Recalled His Journey Into Acting

During the interaction, Patekar spoke about how he got his opportunity to enter theatre.

He recalled an important moment when someone recognised his potential as an actor and gave him an opportunity to perform. He credited Sulabha Deshpande with helping him find his way towards the stage.

Patekar suggested that without that opportunity, his journey into acting could have taken a very different direction.

The veteran actor also recalled the period when he was working while simultaneously pursuing theatre.

He Left His Job To Pursue Theatre

One of the most interesting parts of the video is Patekar’s recollection of the decision he made early in his career.

At the time, he had a job that provided him with a steady income. However, his growing involvement with theatre eventually forced him to choose between employment and acting.

He ultimately decided to leave his job and devote himself to theatre.

Patekar recalled that this was around 1971-72, when he was earning approximately ₹1,200 a month — a significant amount at the time. Despite the financial security, he chose to follow his passion for acting.

From Theatre To Indian Cinema

Nana Patekar’s career subsequently developed from theatre into Marathi and Hindi cinema.

He became known for his distinctive dialogue delivery, intense performances and ability to portray dramatically different characters.

Films such as Parinda, Prahaar, Krantiveer, Agni Sakshi, Yashwant, Ab Tak Chhappan, Welcome and Natsamrat established him as one of India’s most recognisable performers.

He also worked as a director and writer during his long career.

His Final Days In Goa

Patekar spent his final days at his residence in Dona Paula, Goa.

According to reports, he was found unconscious at his home on the morning of October 8 and was taken to hospital. Doctors reportedly attempted to revive him for approximately 45 minutes, but he could not be saved. He was declared dead at around 5:20 am.

His son Malhar subsequently confirmed the news and said that the family would issue a detailed statement.

Why The Video Has Touched Fans

The Goa video has taken on a different meaning following Patekar’s death.

In the footage, the actor is not speaking about mortality or saying goodbye. Instead, he is simply looking back at the beginning of his acting journey and the choices that eventually shaped his extraordinary career.

For fans watching it after his death, however, the footage has become a poignant final glimpse of the actor speaking about the very profession that made him a household name.

Social-media users have been sharing the video while remembering Patekar’s contribution to Indian cinema.

Another Video Also Draws Attention

Apart from the Goa event footage, other recent videos and posts featuring Patekar have also resurfaced online following his death.

A promotional video connected with his film O Romeo has been shared widely, while footage from a Ganesh celebration has also attracted attention on social media.

These clips have given fans a chance to see some of the actor’s final public appearances.

A Career That Began With A Risk

Perhaps the most striking aspect of the viral Goa video is that Patekar was discussing the very decision that changed his life.

He had a stable job but chose theatre.

That decision eventually led to a career spanning theatre, Marathi cinema, Hindi cinema, direction and writing, and earned him some of India’s most prestigious acting honours.

His performances were often marked by emotional intensity and an unmistakable screen presence, making him one of the most distinctive actors of his generation.

Nana Patekar’s Legacy

Nana Patekar’s death has brought renewed attention to a career that lasted several decades.

While his most famous roles will continue to be remembered by audiences, the newly viral Goa video offers a more personal glimpse into the actor’s relationship with his craft.

Days before his death, Patekar was still talking about the journey that began on the stage decades earlier.

Now, that conversation has become one of the final widely circulated glimpses of a performer whose career left a lasting mark on Indian cinema.

Note: The Goa event video has been reported as being approximately four days old at the time of his death. It is therefore more accurate to describe it as his last widely reported public video, rather than definitively claiming that it was the last video ever recorded of Nana Patekar.
