Dammam: The cover of writer, journalist and social commentator Mansoor Palloor’s upcoming book From Mayyazhi to the Desert was unveiled at the opening ceremony of the Saudi Malayali Literary Festival in Dammam.

Published by Mathrubhumi Books, From Mayyazhi to the Desert is described as a reflection on Mansoor Palloor’s journey from Mayyazhi (Mahe) to the Gulf. The book brings together his observations and experiences of life in the desert, touching upon themes such as culture, nature, music and the traditions of indigenous communities.
Palloor, who has been based in Saudi Arabia, has built a diverse career spanning literature, journalism and filmmaking. His writings have frequently explored social issues, cultural experiences and developments in West Asia.
The new book is expected to offer readers an intimate account of the author’s experiences and perspectives, connecting his memories of Mayyazhi with his life in the Gulf.
