Delhi CNG Price Hike: CNG Gets ₹3.89/kg Costlier From August 29; Check New Rates In Delhi-NCR

New Delhi: CNG users across Delhi-NCR will have to pay more from Saturday, August 29, after Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) increased the price of Compressed Natural Gas by ₹3.89 per kg.

The revised prices came into effect from 6 am on August 29, 2026, with IGL attributing the increase to a sharp rise in international liquefied natural gas (LNG) prices amid the ongoing West Asia crisis.

Delhi CNG Price Rises To ₹86.98 Per Kg

Following the latest revision, CNG in Delhi is now priced at ₹86.98 per kg, compared with the earlier rate of ₹83.09 per kg.

The increase is expected to affect private vehicle owners as well as auto-rickshaw drivers, taxis and other commercial vehicle operators who rely heavily on CNG for daily operations.

New CNG Rates In Delhi-NCR

According to IGL’s revised price list, the new rates include:

CityNew CNG Price
Delhi₹86.98/kg
Gurugram₹92.01/kg
Ghaziabad₹95.59/kg
Noida₹111.87/kg

The revised rates apply from August 29 following IGL’s latest price adjustment.

Why Has CNG Become More Expensive?

IGL said a significant portion of the gas used for CNG comes from imported LNG, making its input costs sensitive to international energy prices.

According to the company, spot LNG prices have risen sharply since the escalation of the West Asia conflict. Disruptions to LNG shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, along with increased demand in international markets, have pushed up global gas prices.

IGL said the ₹3.89-per-kg increase was necessary to partially offset the higher cost of input gas while maintaining supplies.

Impact On Auto And Taxi Drivers

The latest increase is likely to put additional pressure on drivers of CNG-powered commercial vehicles. Auto-rickshaw and taxi operators could see their daily fuel expenses rise, particularly those covering long distances.

The higher operating cost could also eventually put pressure on passenger and freight fares across parts of the Delhi-NCR region, although any fare revision would depend on individual transport operators and regulatory decisions.

Fifth CNG Price Hike In Delhi-NCR This Year

The latest increase is being reported as the fifth CNG price hike in Delhi-NCR in 2026. The previous increase came in late May, when CNG prices were raised by ₹2 per kg.

The latest hike highlights how developments in international energy markets can directly affect fuel prices in Indian cities, particularly when domestic supplies need to be supplemented with imported LNG.
