Bengaluru: Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief and actor-turned-politician Vijay has defended his decision to visit Bengaluru despite criticism surrounding the long-standing Cauvery water dispute, saying he is prepared to endure criticism or even humiliation if it helps promote peace and unity between the people of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
Responding to objections raised by political groups and critics, Vijay stressed that his visit was never intended to provoke controversy or inflame regional sentiments. Instead, he described it as a gesture aimed at strengthening harmony between the two neighbouring states, which have historically shared deep cultural, economic, and social ties despite periodic tensions over the Cauvery river.
“If I have to face humiliation for promoting goodwill and unity, I am ready for it,” Vijay said while addressing supporters.
