Hyderabad, July 30, 2026: A Hyderabad court has remanded trainee IPS officer M. Uday Krishna Reddy to 14 days of judicial custody in connection with allegations of sexual assault, stalking, criminal intimidation, and other offences involving a fellow probationary IPS officer at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA).
The accused was produced before the court after his arrest by Hyderabad Police following an investigation into a complaint lodged by the woman trainee officer. After hearing the matter, the court ordered that he be sent to judicial custody until August 11, pending further investigation and legal proceedings.
Allegations Against the Officer
According to the police, the woman officer alleged that the accused subjected her to sexual assault, harassment, stalking, threats, and intimidation during the course of their association. Investigators have also invoked charges including attempted murder after examining medical evidence and the complainant’s statement. The allegations remain under investigation, and the accused will have the opportunity to contest the charges before the court.
Police stated that the complainant underwent a medical examination and that investigators collected documentary, digital, and forensic evidence as part of the ongoing probe. Authorities have also recorded statements from relevant witnesses connected to the case.
Arrest and Investigation
M. Uday Krishna Reddy, a 2025-batch IPS probationer, was taken into custody after a special investigation by Hyderabad Police. Before joining the Indian Police Service, he had served as a constable in the Andhra Pradesh Police and later cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination.
Police said the investigation included examination of electronic evidence, witness statements, and reconstruction of certain events before the accused was formally arrested and produced before the magistrate.
Court Proceedings
The accused had approached the Telangana High Court seeking to quash the FIR registered against him. However, the matter has been adjourned, while the criminal investigation continues. Meanwhile, the trial court ordered his judicial custody after considering the police submissions.
Investigation Continues
Hyderabad Police have stated that the investigation is continuing and that additional evidence will be examined. The allegations are yet to be tested during trial, and under Indian law, the accused is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
