New Delhi, July 30, 2026: Security has been significantly tightened around Jantar Mantar and nearby areas in the national capital after the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) announced plans for a fresh round of protests over the registration of multiple FIRs against its members and supporters following the recent “Sansad Chalo” demonstration.

Delhi Police have deployed additional personnel, installed barricades at key entry points, and stepped up surveillance in anticipation of the proposed protest. Authorities have also appealed to commuters to expect traffic diversions in parts of central Delhi.

CJP Announces Fresh Agitation

The CJP leadership has accused the authorities of using criminal cases to suppress dissent and intimidate protesters. Party leaders have demanded the withdrawal of FIRs registered against students and supporters, alleging that the cases were politically motivated.

The organization has called upon its members to assemble peacefully at Jantar Mantar while urging participants to maintain discipline and avoid any confrontation with security personnel.

Heightened Security Measures

In response to the protest call, Delhi Police have increased security around Jantar Mantar, Parliament Street, Connaught Place, and adjoining areas. Barricades have been placed at strategic locations, and rapid action teams have been kept on standby to respond to any law-and-order situation.

Officials stated that security arrangements have been made to ensure public safety while allowing lawful and peaceful demonstrations in accordance with legal provisions.

Traffic Advisory Issued

Commuters have been advised to plan their journeys in advance as traffic restrictions and diversions may be implemented depending on the size of the gathering. Police have requested motorists to follow official advisories and use alternate routes where necessary.

Public transport services are expected to operate normally, although temporary disruptions near the protest venue cannot be ruled out.

Opposition and Government React

The fresh protest call has reignited political debate. Opposition leaders have criticized the registration of FIRs against demonstrators, arguing that peaceful protest is a constitutional right. Government representatives, however, have defended the police action, stating that legal measures were taken only against those accused of violating the law during the earlier demonstration.

Police Appeal for Peace

Delhi Police have urged organizers to cooperate with authorities and ensure that the protest remains peaceful. Officials emphasized that while citizens have the right to assemble peacefully, any violation of law or attempts to disrupt public order would be dealt with in accordance with legal procedures.

As of now, no untoward incidents have been reported, and security agencies continue to closely monitor the situation.
