Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced that the state government will introduce a cashless healthcare system for advocates, aiming to improve medical access and welfare for the legal fraternity across the state.
Speaking at the oath-taking and introduction ceremony of the newly elected executive committee of the Civil Court Bar Association in Gorakhpur, the Chief Minister said the government is working on an effective mechanism to provide lawyers with cashless medical treatment facilities. He added that the initiative reflects the state’s commitment to safeguarding the interests and well-being of advocates.
Yogi Adityanath also highlighted several welfare measures already implemented for advocates, including increasing the Advocate Welfare Fund assistance to ₹5 lakh and creating a ₹500 crore corpus fund. According to the Chief Minister, nearly 4,000 advocates have already received financial assistance worth around ₹200 crore, while the age limit for welfare assistance has been extended to 70 years.
Describing lawyers as the “guardians of constitutional values,” the Chief Minister emphasized their vital role in upholding public trust in the justice system. He also called for stronger coordination between the Bar and the Bench to ensure timely and accessible justice for citizens.
