Dimagi Naxal Janata Party Pops Up On Instagram, X, Says Meta Shadow-Banned Its Account

New Delhi, August 18, 2026: A new satirical political account calling itself the “Dimagi Naxal Janata Party” (DNJP) has suddenly appeared on Instagram and X, drawing widespread attention after rapidly gaining followers and turning a controversial political phrase into a social media identity.

The Instagram account, which uses the motto “Think | Research | Resist,” reportedly crossed 3.7 lakh followers within a day of appearing on the platform. The people behind the account have not publicly revealed their identities, saying they will disclose who they are after reaching one million followers.

Account Emerges After ‘Dimagi Naxal’ Remark

The emergence of DNJP comes days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi used the expression “dimagi Naxal” during his Independence Day address from the Red Fort.

While speaking about the decline of armed Naxalism, Modi warned about what he described as a continuing ideological threat and said people with a Naxal mindset should be identified and isolated.

The phrase subsequently became the subject of intense political debate, with critics questioning its meaning and the potential implications of applying such a label to people who disagree with the government.

The new social media account appears to have turned the phrase into a satirical political brand.

Who Is Behind Dimagi Naxal Janata Party?

The identity of the people operating the account remains unknown.

The Instagram page reportedly does not identify a founder or provide details about its creators. However, the account has indicated that it plans to reveal its identity once it reaches one million followers.

Its X account, named “Dimagi Naxal Janta Party,” has also begun posting political and satirical content. The account has attracted attention partly because of the speed at which its following has grown.

At the time of the latest reports, the Instagram account had around 79 posts and followed roughly 36 accounts.

DNJP Claims Meta Shadow-Banned Its Account

The account has also alleged that Meta has shadow-banned its Instagram page, claiming that users are unable to find the account easily through Instagram’s search function.

In a post on X, the account questioned why people were allegedly unable to search for “Dimagi Naxal Party” on Instagram and asked whether there was an issue with a satire account.

However, there is no independent confirmation that Meta has actually shadow-banned the account. The allegation currently remains a claim made by the account itself.

The distinction is important because reduced reach, search visibility or recommendation changes can have several possible causes on social media platforms and do not necessarily establish that a platform has deliberately suppressed an account.

What Does ‘Dimagi Naxal’ Mean?

“Dimagi Naxal” is not a formal legal classification.

The expression has been used in the current political debate to describe what the government characterises as a Naxal or Maoist mindset, rather than people necessarily involved in armed insurgency.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju later offered his interpretation of the term, saying Modi’s reference was not simply directed at Opposition leaders. Rijiju linked the phrase to people he said support Maoists, reject the Constitution, support separatism or favour the separation of India’s Northeast.

However, these political descriptions do not create a separate legal category called “dimagi Naxal.” Being described using the phrase does not by itself establish that a person is a Maoist or a member of a banned organisation.

Satire Turns Political Phrase Into Online Identity

The DNJP phenomenon is reminiscent of the earlier Cockroach Janta Party, another satirical political movement that emerged following a controversial courtroom remark by CJI Surya Kant.

The Cockroach Janta Party subsequently became associated with a wider youth-led protest movement, demonstrating how political phrases and comments can rapidly acquire new meanings online.

The Dimagi Naxal Janata Party appears to be following a similar social-media strategy: taking a politically charged phrase and transforming it into a humorous or satirical identity.

Why Is the Account Drawing Attention?

The account’s rapid growth has generated interest for several reasons.

First, it appeared almost immediately after the “dimagi Naxal” phrase entered the national political conversation. Second, its anonymous nature has encouraged speculation about who is behind it. Third, its claim that Meta has restricted the account has added another layer to the controversy.

The page’s stated motto — “Think | Research | Resist” — also suggests that it is attempting to position itself as a platform for political commentary rather than as a conventional political party.

Whether the account eventually develops into a broader political movement or remains primarily an online satire project remains to be seen.

For now, the Dimagi Naxal Janata Party is the latest example of how a phrase from India’s political discourse can quickly be transformed into a viral social media identity, while its creators remain behind the scenes.
