Sony acquires music rights of Rajinikanth’s Kochadaiyaan

Sony Music Entertainment has acquired the music rights of superstar Rajinikanth starrer Kochadaiyaan, an upcoming Tamil period film.

Directed by Rajinikanth’s younger daughter Soundarya R Ashwin, the films also stars Deepika Padukone, Shobana, Rukmini Vijayakumar, Jackie Shroff among others.

“We are extremely excited to be associated with one of the biggest projects that not only appeals to the audiences in the south but to fans all over the world. With such an incredible star cast and India’s best music director, the movie positions itself to be a wholesome entertainer,” said Ashok Parwani Associate Director — Marketing at Sony Music Entertainment.

“This is a very special project for us and we will weave in innovative marketing elements into the campaign to connect with the youth and the fans at large,” he added.

Kochadaiyaan is shot with motion capture in 3D and the music is composed by AR Rahman. The film will be dubbed in Telugu as Vikrama Simha and will also be released in Hindi, Malayalam, Japanese and English.

Kochadaiyaan is slated to hit theatres on Rajinikanth’s birthday on December 12.
